Route planning capabilities

Give the plan a realistic amount of time

Appointments, travel and on-site work all consume the working day. Supply each resource's availability and each stop's timing requirements so the engine can evaluate them together. Contact us to confirm generation availability and integrations for your workspace.

The operational problem

A visit window is not the duration of the job

A visit window tells the planner when a stop can be scheduled. Service duration describes how long the work takes. A tour's work window describes when the resource can operate.

Product capability

The inputs and rules behind the plan

01

Supply dated windows and resource downtime

Use actual dates, times and offsets. Include unavailable periods for vehicles and people, and breaks in tour work windows. The overall planning horizon does not automatically define each tour's shift. Service must fit wholly inside a working interval. Driving can pause for a break or overnight rest and resume in the next working interval. Define required breaks and limits explicitly; this is not an automatic legal-compliance check.

Practical workflow

From prepared work to a plan you can review

  1. 1

    Prepare the work

Supply locations, service durations, visit windows and resource requirements.

  2. 2

    Define the tours

Specify vehicles, assigned people, start locations and dated working periods.

  3. 3

    Apply the rules

Include consistent capacity units, eligibility and stop order where needed.

  4. 4

    Review the result

When generation is enabled, inspect assignments and estimates, including any work left unassigned.

Operational benefits

Work limits include more than driving

  • Work limits account for driving and service. Drive limits can also be supplied. Omitting a drive limit does not create a legal driving cap; regulatory requirements need an explicit, verified model.

In practice

Example: allow time for the work

A 60-minute service and 20 minutes of travel consume 80 minutes before any additional waiting or breaks. This is illustrative arithmetic, not a computed route or a promise that every window combination is feasible.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can the engine account for appointment windows?

Yes. Stops can have supplied time windows, and tours have dated work windows. Include service duration and travel requirements as well so the model reflects the time the work actually needs.

Can different jobs take different amounts of time?

Yes. Service duration is supplied for each task stop. A short inspection and a longer repair can therefore consume different amounts of the available working period.

Can I include breaks and unavailable periods?

The request supports breaks in tour work windows and unavailable periods for resources. These are explicit planning inputs. They should not be described as a complete legal working-time or employee-roster compliance system.

Can a tour span several days?

Yes. A tour can have several dated work windows within the planning horizon. This can model multi-day service or inspection work with one vehicle and its assigned people.
